..What if..?

What if the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Papyri were just the tip of the iceberg, and new information came to light that would cause a Titanic collapse of Christianity as it is currently understood?

Victor Collins is the vehicle which brings the previously unknown information to light. He is injured in an industrial accident, and while in a coma for six months, begins to speak in Old Aramaic. Religious power centers, especially the Catholic Church, take notice of the content of what he is saying, and the push is on to pre-empt the recovery of tangible proof. Victor's "accident" or divine intervention, also led him to the realization of his past incarnation as the scribe Nazzir who had been assigned by the Magi Simon Magus, to record the daily life of the Rabbi Yeshua, or as he is known to Christianity, Jesus.

Through a series of coincidences, or were they, Victor joins forces with three good people, and his "angel" George, that facilitate his mission from God with the recovery of the original documents which will turn Christianity inside out. Victor falls in love with George's widow, murder plots evolve, high officials of the church are implicated as they plot with the vice president to invade Iraq under the pretense of weapons of mass destruction, which from the power hungry church's perspective, are the scrolls.

As Victor begins to remember his past lives, he becomes aware of abilities he had gained while in the presence of Yeshua, and uses them to bring his mission to fruition.

As counterpoint to religious intolerance, a sub plot evolves with a deeply depressed navy pilot who plots to end religious division with a tactical nuclear strike on Jerusalem.

Victor, Moses Truman (his huge black bodyguard who happens to be fluent in Aramaic) and Felix Mardune (the professor of ancient languages) end up in Saddam Hussien's Abu Grahiab prison for desecrating a tomb and attempting to steal antiquities. Saddam knows what he has in the scrolls, and tries to blackmail the fundamentalist president and the Roman Catholic church.

I would classify this intriguing book as alternate, historical fiction. It takes place in the recent past and is built around alternate versus traditional origins of the Christian faith. Reincarnation is woven throughout this story. Filled with adventure, an interesting cast of characters, a bit of romance and a lot of what ifs. An interesting, worthwhile read.

The Fallujah Scrolls Eloi Eloi Robert D Godfrey 9781432755270 Books Reviews

This book is a novel, but it is much more than that. To begin with, it is very colorful and easy to read. Have we lived before? Does memory survive death and the dissolution of matter? Is there a divine guidance that can lead us? These are questions you may ponder as the story unfolds. The deep feelings of Victor Collins are absorbing and some of the rhetoric might make you wince. This can be a quick read or a thoughtful read, as there's a lot of stuff between the lines.
I have personally read this novel, and it reminds me of a Dan Brown novel. There is a sensational storyline that twists and turns. The reader is left feeling breathless at times. The main character is relatable to every reader, both young and young at heart. Victor reminds us that there are many unknowns in life, and that everything happens for a reason. The supporting characters round out this novel. It is a journey of a man, who worked in a factory, who realizes that everything that he once knew was a lie, that there is something more to the theology of his youth.... That he was at one point part of it all.
This 274-page fictional book from 2010 is for the forward spiritual thinker and I think it is outstanding! I LOVED it! I hated to put it down. BUT, if you are regimental in your religious thinking and believe only what the Church tells you, this book is not for you. I want to say this up front to avoid any misunderstandings.

If you are still with me. . .
Vic Collins and Bill Evans were horsing around at work when Vic slipped on some hydraulic fluid and woke up from a coma, 7 months later in the hospital. While Vic was out, he was speaking ancient Aramaic (the language Jesus spoke), which is almost a completely dead language these days. (I read there is a tiny town somewhere in the Middle-East that still uses this language to keep it from completely dying out.) While Vic was speaking ancient Aramaic, he was being recorded and translated by Rabbis and scholars from all over the worlds. Apparently, some of the things Victor said threatened the existence of church doctrine, especially that of the Catholic Church, by pointing out major differences from what has been taught for two thousand years versus what Jesus had said, as transcribed by Nazzir (a scribe who followed Jesus and recorded everything Jesus said--thirty-three vials of documents).

Now, let your mind ponder that for a minute. What if there was evidence that contradicted many of the "truths" you were taught all of your life? What kind of effect do you think this evidence would have on the church? Might the church try to silence you? (in the name of God, of course) Might there be people who would do anything from trying to get you to "rub off" your "new truth" on them to people who condemn you for being the spawn of Satan?

As Victor attempts to resume his life as it once was, he finds that task now impossible. People are after him for one reason or another. But he begins to realize that this is all a gift from God and he must go forward and get the truth out to the people. He must go to Fallujah, Iraq and find the scrolls buried with Nazzir.

The book weaves Vic through the twists and turns of new friends, new places, and unexpected adventures, in a quest to find and reveal the ultimate truth.

As I said, it is a work for the forward thinker--the spiritual, God-loving person who believes in angels and a connection with the Father. It is well written, exciting, humorous, entertaining and intriguing. Although this book stands on its own, I understand there is a sequel coming and I can't wait! I also believe this story would make an excellent movie!
I found this book to have a good plot. For a novice writter Mr. Godfrey did a nice job of transitioning between scenes. He used very vivid descriptions that allowed me to feel like I was a part of the story. It is hard to keep from felling that this book has a lot of truth mixed in with the fantasy. It may not be a book for the devoted Catholic but seems to have all the basics for Christianity covered. I think this book has all the elements to make a great movie.
I didn't enjoy this book at all as I kept waiting for it to start and found that it never really got going. Not very interesting plot, plodding writing and I only read about a third of the book and stopped.
This novel weaves an intriguing tale that takes the reader on a journey between today's current events and the origins of the Christian faith.

The author's historical details are spot-on, and are perfectly woven throughout this global adventure of an ordinary man who reconnects with his past life and finds himself being called to expose information about the early Church that threatens traditional Christian beliefs.

The mission involves dangerous international travel, romance, murder, a spiritual guide, and exposes the political and religious corruption of world leaders -- all the elements needed to keep the reader hooked cover-to-cover. I loved it!
