This story is Erotic and thrilling and at times a little brutal but Bane is an amazing start to a new series and definitely another 5 Star Hit for DH Sidebottom and her evocative storytelling.

4.5 thrilling stars!
If you're picking this book up, thinking that it's going to be like other that D.H. Sidebottom has written, you'll be severely disappointed. Bane, is gripping, intense and exciting. It's not nearly as dark as her other work, but it does have dark scenes, dark elements and some content that some readers will find offensive.
I really, really enjoyed Rik and Esther/Millie's storyline. They are childhood friends when circumstances pull them apart for many years. This is where typical Sidebottom comes into play; always expect the unexpected. Once you think you've got the plot figured out, BAM! Curveball.
Don't let the fact that this is different from what you've read from the author, you'll be reeled in, sucked under and thrown back out. Expect to read Bane, in one sitting.

Every word, in every sentence of what DH Sidebottom writes is book nerd gold, and it will never get old. Action, murder, love and loss, and the ultimate sexy alpha men. What more could you want?
If you loved the Heart of Stone series, also by DH Sidebottom, you will be super excited diving into this one, and may just have a pleasant surprise coming your way!
Rik and Esther were the best of friends, but when Esther up and leaves with her family suddenly, it turns them both into people they'd never imagine. Years later, coming face to face again, things literally turn explosive between them. Leaving them confused and enraged, there's questions, lies and truths to discover. Not to mention, they're presently in quite the predicament.
We all know the girls will fall for sexy alpha Rik, but my lusty heart was grabbed by Brandon, the faithful sidekick. There’s just something mysterious and snarky about the man!
This amazing story is another page turner, and it will leave you begging for more. More love, more sexy time, more fists flying, more everything!

This story isn’t what I was expecting, it shocked me.
Milly loves her job as a PA to Geoffrey Sparrow, the CEO of Sparrow Towers where she’s worked for 8 years. Her childhood wasn’t great and as she’s estranged from her own father, the relationship she has with Geoffrey means the world to her, they have a mutual love for his company, respect for each other and he gives her the affection she missed out on growing up.
One night after a bad break up, Milly returns to her office where she finds Geoffrey working late. They hear a gunshot so Milly arms herself and goes to investigate but to her horror, another shot rings out and by the time she returns to his office, Geoffrey has been murdered.
The #1 suspect in her mind is the CEO of Warne industries, Brandon Knox who has been trying to buy Sparrow Towers for months but Geoffrey always refused. Now he’s no longer an obstacle, Warne swoop in and takeover everything, including Milly’s life.
Just as she thinks her career is over, Millie is informed that she’ll be one of the few current members of staff to keep her job but that comes at a price, the life she left behind and the life she leads now collide in the worst way when someone from her past is revealed as the other CEO of Warne industries, Rik Bane her childhood best friend.
This is one of those stories that you should go into blind so it doesn’t spoil the many twists and revelations so all I’ll say is Rik Bane is the definition of an alpha male and the journey the characters go on is dark, thrilling and filled with suspense. This book definitely has the shock factor and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys their romance with some thrills and lots of suspense.
Childhood friends to lovers with a twist. He was from 'the wrong side of the tracks' while she was Daddy's little princess. Of course that was only the tip of the iceberg. Rick grows up to lead a 'black ops' type of group while Esther grows up to be an assassin in her dads mob. Their story is truly explosive.
It's a confusing story for a few chapters. Our main character works as a PA for a businessman involved in security. He's murdered and his company sold to the same people who were after his company. There's an involved backstory of kids separated and a crime organization. It's good as long as you can try to keep the players straight and try to figure out who is the good guys.
Once again Ms. Sidebottom did a phenomenal job. The way she pulls a reader in with each and every story she creates is absolutely amazing. I loved Esther and her hilarious personality and Rik with his mysteriously sexy one.
